Meeting Format

Every Toastmasters club has similar (though not identical) meeting format. The general format of meetings at Varsity Toastmasters is:

6:00pm Pre-meeting gathering
6:10pm President opens the meeting
6:12pm Toastmaster conducts the meeting
Tip Master presents a helpful tip of the day
Grammarian presents a word of the day
6:20pm Speakers present prepared speeches/educationals.
Each speech has the opportunity to be positively and constructively evaluated by a fellow toastmaster within the club.
7:10pm Refreshment break
7:25pm Everyone gets a chance to give a minute long "table topic" on impromptu subjects chosen by the Table Topics Master.
7:35pm Two evaluators evaluate alternate table topics and offer positive and constructive feedback on the their delivery.
7:40pm The Listening Master runs a fun game to test how well the audience listened and paid attention during the meeting.
7:45pm Grammarian reports on how the word of the day was used, other unusual words that were used by members and grammatical usage.
Timekeeper reports on how long each speaker spoke for and how well the meeting kept to time.
7:50pm A Evaluations Evaluator offers his/her feedback on how the evaluators performed their task. He/she notes strong performances and suggests what can be strengthened.
A General Evaluator comments on how the meeting was run and evaluates the remaining roles.
8:00pm President closes the meeting
